Report: Past Inspired Launch

Those who came to the Boston Guildhall Museum on Friday 28 February or Saturday 1 March can attest to the exciting installations and engaging performances that launched the Past Inspired strand of the Transported arts programme. Past Inspired represents the opportunity to invest in arts activity that is inspired by the history and heritage of Boston Borough and South Holland.

Though some of the pieces were originally commissioned for other heritage venues in the UK, they nevertheless beautifully enhanced the Guildhall. For example the dance company Made by Katie Green performed selections from their piece The Imagination Museum, which originally was commissioned by The Collection in Lincoln. However the Guildhall Museum provided a perfect backdrop for it, as the performers literally guided audience members through the Museum, giving them a personalised and highly original tour of the building through their performance.

The Launch was not only an opportunity to see quality and innovative performances and installations, but it also gave us a chance to meet with different heritage professionals and heritage-inspired artists. These discussions revealed a real wealth of potential for partnerships within the Past Inspired strand. One of the main successes from the Launch was understanding from those that represent the heritage sector that Transported is an opportunity to do something different. For example, there were suggestions for large scale interventions and projects, inspired by the distinctive landscape and agricultural heritage of the area.

The Transported Team is so pleased with how the event turned out, and we hope that it gave the people of South Holland and Boston Borough a small preview of exciting things to come over the next couple of years. Stay tuned for more!
