Neighbourhood Action Group commissions sculptor to design artworks for Haven Bank area.
As part of the ‘From Stump to the Sluice’ Arts Council funded project, the Witham Central & Carlton Road Neighbourhood Action Group and Transported have recently commissioned Lincolnshire based artist, James Sutton, to create a series of inspiring cast metal sculptures and plaques along the Haven Bank.
James will work closely with the Neighbourhood Action Group, other community groups and local schools and colleges to consult with local residents to identify themes and ideas associated with river walkways through a series of printmaking workshops. There will also be an opportunity for the wider public to get involved with a drop-in workshop in the Market Place in the near future. Once these themes have been established, James will then carry out a series of Clay Modelling and Plaster Casting workshops to form the final design for the sculptures.
Having previously worked for Transported’s ‘On Your Doorstep’ project, James is familiar to the area. See James’ work at Geoff Moulder Leisure Centre, Boston Woods and Windsor Crescent Bank.
The workshops will run until April with the final designs being hopefully installed by the end of July 2017.

The group felt that James stood out throughout and we are very excited to work alongside him to create a series of beautiful and inspiring pieces of artwork.”
People can get involved in the project by either placing their aluminium cans in any of the specific bins that have been placed down Haven Bank, on B&M Walkway, in Central Park and on Station Path (between Irby Street and Station Street) or by attending one of the upcoming workshops.
