Community: Try Arts

TryARTS provides regular music, arts and crafts sessions for children aged 0-5yrs and their families.  The sessions are fun, friendly and free.

The sessions will help parents and carers to get their creative juices flowing and also provide ideas that can be used with their children at home.  A lovely resource pack for use in the home will be given to every family that joins in with TryARTS.  There will also be ideas and discussion about other creative activities that families can enjoy together in their community or locality such as festivals, workshops and places to visit.

soundLINCS Music Facilitators will be there to encourage all participants and lead them through fun music, arts and crafts activities. Parents and carers who wish to take more of an active role in the group will be encouraged and supported to do so. This could include doing research about other activities that are available locally; helping to gather resources for a workshop; or supporting the Music Facilitator to deliver a workshop.

The sessions are an ideal opportunity for parents and carers who would like to take a more active role in their Children’s Centre or community whilst also spending time with their children. One parent said “I would encourage others to access TryARTS. It’s been fantastic to meet other parents and to see how early children are interested in the arts; my son is more interested in music now and even watched the proms; he’s three!”

Sessions currently take place at: Holbeach Children’s Centre, Sutterton Children’s Centre, Spalding Children’s Centre and Old Leake Children’s Centre. For times and dates please visit the events page. On www.soundlincs.org

TryARTS is funded by The Mighty Creatives and Lincolnshire County Council.  This project is part of The Mighty Creatives ‘Locally Based Partnerships’ Programme.  The Aim of the Programme is to engage young people in leading the commissioning of arts and cultural activity in the East Midlands.
