Willow weaver, Alison Walling
Alison Walling, an expert willow weaver and grower based in Lincolnshire, will assist you in creating artwork using this natural material, drawing inspiration from the centuries-old tradition of eel catching with willow in Spalding. This session and artwork are also a part of our Spalding Reconnected: Riverwalk activities.
Fascinating Fens and Celebrate the Fens day aims:
- To have a massive celebration that brings communities together throughout all parts of the fens
- To showcase to all, the unique landscapes, townscapes, heritage, nature and beauty of the fens through events and activities on the day/weekend
- To encourage the values of promoting and exploring the fens through heritage, creativity, nature, wellbeing and accessibility
Spalding Reconnected: Historic Town & Riverside is an exciting new community arts project celebrating and promoting the unique heritage of Spalding’s town and riverside. It is made possible thanks to National Lottery Heritage Fund, South Holland District Council, Heritage Lincolnshire, Transported Arts, East Mercia Rivers Trust and Lincolnshire County Council, and will seek to create and promote several townscape and riverside improvements, together with future funding opportunities all based on Spalding’s heritage.
This activity is free to participate in, and there is no need to book. Drop by any time during the activity. Please allow between 45 minutes to an hour to take part. The activity can be adapted for all ages, but we do require under 18s to be supervised by a parent or guardian.
Location: Riverside Double Street Green – What.3.Words ///obey.racing.limes
