Transported is working in partnership with Boston Borough Council to bring Family Fun Fridays, free arts activities, to Boston Marketplace in 2015

Artist Julie Willoughby of Zoomorphia will be in the marketplace hosting a drop in workshop, using textile techniques to create a large community wall hanging themed on local landscapes.  We will be using easy textile techniques for beginners like rag rugging, plaiting, tassles, knotting and big stitches, along with more skilled techniques like mega embroidery, suffolk puffs and hooking. If you have any old (washed, please) T shirts, bring them along to be incorporated into the wall hanging for posterity!

We will need your help, the challenge is to create a beautiful “hedge” themed wall hanging using scraps of fabric, recycled and donated material, old buttons and broken jewellery. No experience is needed, but if you have some skills they would be much appreciated. So if you can’t sew a stitch or are a textile expert, join us for “Material Mayhem”.

Rhubarb Theatre will also be in the marketplace performing their playful street theatre performance “The Case of the Curious Suitcase”.  If you have enjoyed seeing “Bookworms” then make sure you catch this! (Image: Kenton Hawkins)

Transported is a strategic, community-focused programme which aims to get more people in Boston Borough and South Holland enjoying and participating in arts activities.  The programme is overseen by the Centre of Culture and Creativity at the University of Lincoln, and is funded by the Creative People and Places fund from Arts Council England.
