Join us on Friday 22nd October, 10am-12pm at Fydell House for a free mosaic workshop!

A perfect activity for families during half term.

This workshop is the second session in our Dolphin Lane project.
Transported Art project, Heritage Lincs and Boston Borough Council have commissioned (via National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Townscape Heritage Initiative) artist Karen Francesca to work with residents to create a new spectacular mosaic artwork on Dolphin Lane and develop the Boston School of Mosaics, a space for people to come together and learn skills in mosaic making.

If you’re a Boston resident, you may have spotted some of Karen’s work before as share was part of the team that created two of the Boston Buoys sculptures; ‘By Land’ and ‘By Sea’.

In the first phase of this project, Karen will be visiting Boston groups and venues to talk about the project, identify themes and stories and work with them to make some small mosaic sections.

In the workshops we will explore people’s personal and family stories, and we ask participants to bring photos for this. We will look at some history and heritage stories, think about the European context, cultural connections and make artworks/ collage/ texts.

Workshops will also be an experience of mosaic making, handling materials and looking at examples of ours and others work. Small mosaic sections will be made on fibre glass netting. We will also talk about the printed ceramic aspect and discuss design/ colour/ form and so on.

Be a part of it! Make your mark on a permanent artwork in Boston that celebrates the town’s rich history.

The workshops are suitable for all ages, all children must be accompanied by an adult.

No need to book, just drop-in!
