We had a great first phase of the Perch Here project with woodcarving workshops and we’re back with more sessions – including making ceramics with Greenfield Pottery!

The Perch Here project is a programme of place-shaping projects in Sutton Bridge and Wingland, to celebrate the area’s unique characteristics.

The first phase of the project was centred around free carving workshops in the Sutton Bridge area with carver Peter Tree where participants helped to create way-markers, learnt carving skills and gave us feedback on what they’d like to see be created in the project.

Now we’re holding more sessions in September with Carving and Ceramics.

With Greenfield Pottery, participants of all ages are invited to make their own heraldic shield. You’re welcome to make the shield personal to you and/or your family.

Feel free to bring along items that can be used in a press pattern clay technique that will help with your custom design!

For safety reasons, participants must be over 18 to take part in woodcarving.

The sessions will take in the Transported Gazebo on Bridge Road Green, opposite Baxter’s Fish Shop on Saturdays 10th and 17th September from 10.30am until 2.30pm.

The new artwork and activities are aimed to have been completed and installed by hen Spring 2023, with a look to culminating the programme with a festival-type celebration event centred around a theme unique to the area to draw in visitors and engage local residents.
