THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULLY BOOKED
It wouldn’t be the annual Illuminate parade each year with a brilliant live samba batteria walking in the procession, bringing the beat, and this year we’re invited you to be a part of it.

In previous years, we have worked with Boston secondary students to teach them samba, usually their first experience of it, in 2023, as well as working with students again, we are now inviting Boston residents to a free workshop and to be in the parade.

On Saturday 18th November, you will have the opportunity to work with samba Mestre Chris Lewis-Jones, former Artistic Director of Sambawamba International Carnival Arts Company.

Participants will be introduced to a number of rhythms and patterns from Brazil, the Caribbean and beyond, which will be used to create an arrangement that we’ll perform, together with lots of other drummers, at the Illuminate procession on Thursday 23rd!

All over 18s welcome. No previous experience necessary, All instruments provided.

Saturday 18th November,
Blackfriars Arts Centre
