Boston’s Hanseatic connections will be celebrated in medieval style this Saturday by Boston Hanse Group.
This year’s event will run from 10am to 1pm. The Knights of Skirbeck medieval re-enactment group will have a tent by the Ingram Memorial and will be giving combat demonstrations. There will be music from the Lincoln Waites and The Peasants Revolt and there will be a demonstration of spinning in the Stump.
The highlight of the morning will be the parade of Boston’s 20 new flags and banners created for the Boston Unfurled project – run in partnership with Transported, and delivered by artists Ruth Pigott of Curiosity Creators, and Kathleen Smith. The fabric designs and finials have been designed and made by 60 local people. Check out some images of them below! The procession will leave the Five Lamps in the Market Place at 11.45am and proceed to the Stump where flowers will be laid on the stone of a Hanse merchant.
