Make your own Illuminate Lantern – Limited spaces available!

As Boston’s Illuminate Festival returns for the fourth time, so do the community lantern-making workshops!

Working with the Curiousity Creators (the company behind many of Lincolnshire’s fantastic art installations, including the YellowBelly and Red Arrows Barons in the Lincoln Baron Trail), Transported are hosting free craft sessions where you can create your own beautiful lantern.

There will be two workshop sessions both on this Saturday 24th November, at 10:30am and 12pm at the Boston Guildhall.

The lanterns will be brought to life, and shined through the streets of Boston in the 2018 Illuminate Festival on Thursday 29th November. The festival celebrates Boston’s connection to the Pilgrim story and the sailing of the Mayflower, keeping history alive by working with schools and the Borough Council to let everyone in the area have a chance to enjoy the beautiful lights and reflect on the tales of our past.

Flora and fauna are the theme for Illuminate this year, with insects embodying the Pilgrim’s hardworking community and the use of floral symbolism such as sweetpeas to emote depatures and goodbyes.

Lantern makers are invited to march their lantern in the parade procession. They will meet in Central Park at 5pm on parade day.

Transported would love to see all areas of the Boston community represented, don’t be shy! Lantern workshops are suitable for all ages and abilities. Booking is required.
