Transported are pleased to be working in partnership with artsNK on a new Inclusive dance programme that will increase the number of dance opportunities for disabled young people in Lincolnshire.
Four new community dance groups will be established over two years in Spalding, North Hykeham, Boston and Lincoln, with classes beginning at the Castle Sports Complex, Spalding and One NK, North Hykeham in October.
The groups will be for young people with disabilities aged 8– 18, providing a safe environment for them to socialise, form friendships and be creative. The programme aims to enable disabled young people to feel more empowered within their communities and enjoy an increased level of wellbeing. The project will also work to create a platform for these dance groups to be part of a National dance programme.
Amy Dalton, Head of Dance Development at artsNK commented:
“artsNK is very excited about introducing a new dance and disability programme for young people. We are fortunate to have received funding from Lincolnshire County Council’s Short Breaks scheme; allowing us to set up brand new inclusive dance classes for those with additional needs in the local area. Set to be fun filled and a time out for parents/carers; with funky music and lots of laughter, why not give these classes a try?”
