The ArtsNK Dance team in partnership with Transported have been successful in gaining funding to develop a new project: ‘Inclusive Dance.’
The aim of the project is to increase the number of dance opportunities for disabled young people in Lincolnshire.
They plan to do this by establishing four new community dance groups over two years across the county in: Spalding, North Hykeham, Boston and Lincoln.
The groups will be for young people with disabilities aged 11 – 18, providing a safe environment for young people with disabilities to socialise, form friendships and be creative, and to create a platform for these dance groups to be part of a National Dance Programme.
The intended outcomes are as follows:
* Disabled young people will feel more empowered within their communities and enjoy a demonstrably increased level of wellbeing
* Over the course of the project’s activities, the profile of dance and disability will be raised across the county and into the wider East Midlands
* By the end of March 2018 the groups will be sustainable
These projects are in the early stages of development but the organisations are keen to hear from people who may be interested in getting involved, from participating to volunteering.
