Dementia Awareness Week is from 16th – 22nd May. The Alzheimer’s Society will be holding an exhibition of blue, paper forget-me-nots on their Mezzanine for a week. The flowers are made by local community groups and schools and have poignant words written by dementia sufferers attached to them.
They are launching the exhibition with Louise from the Alzheimer’s Society who is offering two workshops to Ashvilla School and residents of Ashfield Lodge care home. She is also offering training to become a ‘Dementia Friend’.
‘Dementia Friends’ gives people an understanding of dementia and the small things you can do to make a difference. If you would like to gain more awareness about working with service users and visitors with dementia please join a free session at 10am in Studio 3 at the National Centre for Craft and Design on Monday 16 June. The session will take 45 mins.
