News: From Station to Stump – Artists Commissioned & Free Workshop

Jeni Cairns, a Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal winning garden designer from Peterborough, and Zaneta Belasicova, a visual artist who has won awards for her work in healthcare settings, have been commissioned by Transported in partnership with Boston Borough Council, Boston in Bloom and Lincolnshire County Council Highways to create artworks for Boston town centre.  The project is called “From Station to Stump”.

The first artwork, currently under construction, will be a unique garden created by Jeni in the St Botolph’s Bridge West Walkway area (near the B&M supermarket) with hands on support from HMP North Sea Camp. Zaneta will then be creating a series of banner artworks to line the route from Boston Train Station to the footbridge.  This is part of Transported’s On Your Doorstep strand, and the area was nominated by the Witham Central and Carlton Road Neighbourhood Action Group.

There is a free public workshop with Jeni on Friday 24 July from 10am – 4pm in the area between B&M and the footbridge.  Pop along to help make insect hotels and bird houses for the finished garden and fill raised planters to brighten up the area!
