Ridges & Furrows Freelance Historian
£15,000 (approx. 60 days) July 2016 – July 2017
The NK Arts Partnership (artsNK, Design Factory, the National Centre for Craft & Design and the Terry O’Toole Theatre) are inviting historians to apply for a key role in our creative heritage project – Ridges & Furrows – working in Welbourn, North Hykeham and Waddington in North Kesteven, Lincolnshire. The project is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Ridges & Furrows aims to offer greater access to and understanding of local heritage through inspiring activities and imaginative interpretation. The historian will work closely with artists in each location to devise a programme to research and interpret village history, customs and folklore through memorable and exciting activities with local communities. The historian will also work on oral reminiscence with schools and older residents, and will write up the research, interpretation and outcomes for publication on the website and in a written guide.
