Programme now out! The detailed programme of what is happening where during Night of Festivals has just been released – download it here.
It’s less than two weeks until Night of Festivals takes place in Boston’s Central Park on Saturday 12 October and Sunday 13 October, and preparations by Mandinga Arts with local participants kicked off last weekend in costume workshops at the Assembly Rooms (above). Paraiso Samba also came to Boston and did a drumming workshop at Haven High Academy.
There are still some opportunities for local people to be part of the Festival itself. To be in the carnival procession over the weekend of the festival wearing a stunning costume, workshops are happening this weekend at the Assembly Rooms with Mandinga Arts – contact TransportedRosie@litc.org.uk and TransportedFrankie@litc.org.uk for more information.
Paraiso Samba are holding a last workshop this coming Sunday (6 October) from 11am to 4pm at Haven High Academy and participants will then perform during the festival at around 2pm on the Sunday (13 October). To sign up, contact TransportedCo@litc.org.uk.
And finally – there is a fantastic textile workshop with Alinah Azadeh happening in the AgeUk Community Rooms on Strait Bargate in Boston on Sunday 6 October, 10.30pm to 12pm or 12.30pm to 2pm. Participants are invited to contribute to her beautiful and thought provoking installation of flags, all exploring the idea of freedom: Freedom Square. This will then be displayed in the Night of Festivals Performance Dome during the festival weekend and will move on to the next legs of the tour in Slough and Leicester. To book a place on the workshop, contact TransportedNatalie@litc.org.uk. Or alternatively, call 01406 701006 for more details on all of these opportunities.
All of these activities are free to those living in Boston Borough and South Holland – and don’t forget that the Night of Festivals event itself is also completely free admission!
