Nottingham Light Night, Friday 28 February 2014 from 5.30pm

A stunning event is happening in Nottingham soon which may be of interest to those involved or wanting to be involved with Transported’s Festivals strand.

From the Nottingham City Council Website:

Light Night, a firm family favourite, returns and is going on from strength to strength.

As part of the offer, Nottingham Castle will host exciting new entertainment, music, installations and projections for all ages. The theme of the event will link in with commemorations taking place across the country for the centenary of World War I.  Enjoy spectacular projections onto the Castle wall, and visit the caves for a WWI singsong.

Our friends over at City Arts have teamed up with the Renewal Trust, Send Project and Chase Neighbourhood Centre to create a Unity Lantern Procession for Nottingham Light Night at Sneinton Market. In the run up to the event they’ve worked with communities from St Anns and Sneinton to create beautiful willow lanterns.

Tomorrow two lantern processions will set off, one from the Chase Neighbourhood Centre in St Anns and one from the Greenway Centre in Sneinton. When they arrive at Sneinton Market the two processions will come together in a celebration of community and unity. In addition to the lanterns, each procession will be accompanied by live musicians and giant puppets.

If you’re interested in Festivals, Light Night tomorrow evening in Nottingham is definitely worth going to… and it’s in the evening so you can go to our Past Inspired Launch Event first!
