Hi,
Did an interesting series of pottery sessions at a care home in Spalding recently. The old folks were doubtful at first that they could make anything but soon came round and in the series of four sessions made two pots each. Some wanted to make flower pots for their room, another wanted to make a frog as it reminded her of her childhood and another wanted to decorate a pot using motifs from the embroidery she used to do.
The sessions certainly helped to get them using their hands and their minds – they, and I, were surprised at what they could actually do! Also, they had great fun. The manager of the home said that she had not heard them laughing as much for ages!
I am scheduled to repeat it at the end of the year – six sessions this time based on making things relating to Christmas.
A very worthwhile excercise.
