CREATE-on: Craft Catalyst Club

This project was a part of our CREATE-on programme, a programme made in response to the Covid-19 restrictions challenging the way we stay creative.

Project description

As part of the Transported Create-On programme, Making Up Your Street (MUYS) opened the “Craft Catalyst Club” (CCC).

We wanted to connect with people in Boston and South Holland, during the lockdown period and encourage people who might be new to creative activity to give it a try.

There were two elements to the project:

Community Craft Postcards

Participants visited a website link, provided their details and Laura and Kathleen from MUYS sent a free postcard kit with easy to follow instructions and the materials to make a postcard using different techniques.

Participants sent the postcard back to us in the prepaid envelope provided and we sent the postcard to another member of the Craft Catalyst Club. Soon after the original participant received their own surprise postcard in the mail from another anonymous Craft Catalyst Club participant.

Prescribed Craft Kits

Participants signed up via an online form. They answered a few questions about themselves and then Kathleen and Laura hand picked a craft kit with their interests in mind and send it straight to your home.

No internet access? Not a problem! Participants took part in this project completely offline. There was a phone number participants could contact instead.
