CREATE-on: ‘My Sense of Place’ Booklet

This project is a part of our CREATE-on programme, a programme made in response to the Covid-19 restrictions challenging the way we stay creative.

The Boston Buoys Trail is a series of six stunning art installations repurposing navigational buoys created by artists Jo Chapman, Carrie Reichardt and Bex Simon.

The artworks celebrate Boston’s rich heritage and maritime connections, capturing our fascination with exploration across the world. They also celebrate what is special in Boston – from local heroes to Boston’s hidden past.

Carrie Reichardt, an internationally renowned craft-activist and public artist who has made work for the Victoria and Albert Museum in London amongst other commissions, will create her distinctive mosaics for two buoys situated in Central Park, and at St Botolph’s Footbridge.

The Booklet

The Buoy at the footbridge will be decorated using inspiration from booklets that Carrie has created for Boston residents to fill in and return to her.

This ‘Sense of Place’ booklet is designed for people living in care homes in Boston, to enable them to be take part in the initiative and record their thoughts about Boston. However, anyone from Boston could get involved!
