This project is a part of our Creative Response to Loneliness programme, free to participate and open to Boston and South Holland residents.
Learn some creative, mixed media drawing techniques to record the ups, downs and sideways life of parenting small children. The project is aimed at parents/guardians of children between 0-3 years of age and is suitable for all abilities. Sessions will be delivered remotely and are designed to fit in during your sightly quieter moments!
Through shared experience, the project aims to connect likeminded people from the local area by focusing on the ‘little things’ that happen in the daily life of a young family. Finding the quirky and amusing moments, using artistic responses to document the little – or big! – milestones, and keeping a record to look back on, helps to bring focus and purpose in our current world where these things can sometimes feel lost. Looking after small children during lockdown is sometimes stressful and lonely, through this range of artistic activities you will spend time focusing on the small joys that can light up the darkest day.
Once enrolled on the six week program, participants will be provided with materials to complete one small activity each week. Sessions will be delivered through a combination of online meetings and pre-recorded tutorials, with an online space for everyone to communicate, share their artwork and discuss ideas. There will be scope for participants to expand on the skills shared in their own time if they wish, to develop their own artistic ‘voice’ and create a lasting memento.
Towards the end of the project the group will collaborate to produce a response that can be shared with the wider community and form more connections with others at the same stage of life.
