Take Part in Night of Festivals!

Transported is delighted to be bringing ArtReach’s Night of Festivals Touring to Boston on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October – it’s going to be one fun weekend!

There are lots of opportunities for local people to get involved in the run up to the festival and work with two nationally renowned companies – Paraiso Samba and Mandinga Arts.  And what’s more, if you live in Boston Borough or South Holland, it is completely free to take part in the preparatory workshops.  Learn new skills, get valuable experience and have a lot of fun… for free!

The opportunities currently available are:

Carnival Participants

Transported are looking for local volunteers to be part of the carnival itself.  No experience is necessary – you just  need to attend two weekend workshops on 28 and 29 September and 5 and 6 October at the Assembly Rooms in Boston, where you will work with experienced members of Mandinga Arts on costume, movement and performance and be allocated your own special carnival costume.  Suitable for anyone age 9 and up.  Email TransportedRosie@litc.org.uk or TransportedFrankie@litc.org.uk to register interest.

Musicians

Local musicians have got the chance to work with Paraiso Samba in preparation for the big weekend, during which they will perform and show off their new skills! Masterclasses are taking place on 22 September, 29 September and 6 October, in Boston.  Ideally you need to be available for all of these dates but if you are interested and not able to make all of them, please do still get in touch.  For more information and to book a place, contact Laura at TransportedLaura@litc.org.uk or call 07747 271825.

Facepainting

Have an interest in facepainting and body adornment art?  Then sign up for a workshop being held on 5 October to learn how to do it – then show off your new skills as part of the Transported team at Night of Festivals.  The morning workshop is fully booked but there are still a few places left for the afternoon session, 1pm to 3pm.  Participants will be paid for their time at the festival itself, and will be required to work from 2pm to 5.30pm on Saturday and 10.30am to 2pm on Sunday.  Contact TransportedNatalie@litc.org.uk to book your place.

Family Textile Workshop

Artist Alinah Azadeh has been specially commissioned to create Freedom Square, a new art installation for Night of Festivals Touring.

You can contribute to this piece of art during two fun family workshops being held on Sunday 6 October from 10.30am to 12pm or 12.30pm to 2pm. The workshops are led by Alinah herself and will involve creating your own design using graffiti style block printing and stencilling.  Your designs will then become part of Freedom Square, which will be exhibited over the Night of Festivals weekend.

The workshop will take place at The Assembly Rooms in Boston.  It is FREE of charge and no experience is needed. The workshop is suitable for those age 8 and above, and is a great opportunity for the whole family to work together.

To book your place, please contact TransportedNatalie@litc.org.uk.

General Volunteers

We are also on the search for people to be general stewards for the weekend of the event itself.  If you would like to be part of the Transported team for the weekend, please email TransportedAdmin@litc.org.uk.
