The Light Ships Cast Off!

François Matarasso is working on a project as part of our Creative Consultation strand about local Fenland Churches, called The Light Ships.

The Light Ships is:

  • A revaluation of Lincolnshire Fenland churches as historic works of art and as sites of contemporary creativity;
  • An exploration of the village church’s layered meanings in community life now; and
  • A celebration of the stories, memories and associations bound up in every church.

The Light Ships will be looking at the Churches of Bicker, Fishtoft, Swineshead and Wrangle (Boston); Cowbit, Gosberton, Holbeach St. Johns, Moulton, Moulton Chapel, Moulton Seas End, Quadring, Pinchbeck, Sutton St. James and Whaplode  (South Holland) – all chosen because these villages have not yet been involved in Transported’s consultation programme following on from last year.

For more information and to follow the project as it develops, visit http://thelightships.com/.  François will be blogging regularly, so make sure you bookmark it for all the latest!
